When I heard about the Polaroid/Bust Magazine Ladies of Polaroid Contest, it was screaming my name, and I could not resist!!!  Polaroid has always been a huge part of my own photography, starting with the magical SX-70 camera I grew up with!  I have a collection of Vintage (and new!) Polaroid Cameras and even did a little research to make sure the camera we photographed was appropriate for the time period of the set.  Combine all this with my love for Bust Magazine and it was a done deal!  Super talented crew assembled and we were shooting in no time!:)

Kartemquin’s Justine Nagan & Maria Finitzo: Typeface

June 23, 2011 in Photography

After having the pleasure to spend time with both Executive Director Justine Nagan and Executive Producer Maria Finitzo, I was thrilled to finally see their film Typeface on WTTW last night!  Typeface highlights The Hamilton Wood Type and Printing Museum in Two Rivers, Wisconsin, which houses one of the premier wood type collections in the world (I REALLY want to go visit!!).  If you missed it, check your local listings for the replay or purchase your own DVD for a limited time here.  Also, be sure to check out some of the ultra cool Typeface swag made by some of the talented artists featured in the film!

Tony’s New Hat

June 22, 2011 in Photography

I think my friends have come to expect from me the sudden command of, “look over here!” or “go stand over there!” or “chin up!”  My husband has turned to me on more than one occasion and said, “What? Does my light look good again?”

Yesterday, my studio-mate, and awesome architectural photographer, Tony Soluri walked in sporting his brand new Father’s Day hat and I just couldn’t resist snapping a few!  Check out Tony’s website when you have a minute, he is a master of light!

I am a Happy Girl!!:)

I can remember being a 19 year old photo student, standing in Times Square, looking at the largest billboards I had ever seen and thinking, “I WANT THAT! I want my photograph to be HERE, BIG!”.  Fast forward to a few weeks ago, to me (a few years older!), standing in Times Square, looking at a huge billboard with my photograph, CRAZY BIG!  Thank you, thank you, and thank you to everyone who made this moment possible!  I am grateful to all of you for your help along the way, and of course with this project specifically-I am truly a happy girl!:)

In case you missed our previous blog post, you can see the billboard in better detail here: http://blog.lisapredko.com/2011/04/05/casio-tryx-part-1/

How about a whole building next time?;)
