From the moment I heard about the 5th Annual Slow & Low: Chicago Community Lowrider Festival, I was literally counting the days until I could visit this little piece of “Lisa Heaven”!!!!!!! I’m in LOVE with the artistry, attention to detail(!!!), but most of all the engineering-I saw an El Camino FLY on Sunday (check out the video at the end of this post!)!!! Seriously, how is this even possible?!?!?!?!?! So many cool vintage & custom cars-my heart was exploding with joy!!!:) With 2 of my favorite ladies on my arms I got to take SOOOOO many photos!!!! Check out some of my favorites, below.
I just recently escaped the cool Chicago air and had a short trip to sunny Florida thanks to my awesome big brother!!!:) On our way back from visiting with turtles, winds picked up and a “sand storm” cleared out the beach-it was a pretty incredible visual, I of course have to share!
Unfortunately, sand storms don’t sound particularly fantastic on an iPhone mic. Here enters a song I love so much, it’s in my head constantly! And as most of my friends know, I kind of love the “repeat” button! How to Dress Well is AMAZING! Buy the music here or on iTunes so you too can listen to it on repeat!!!!:)XOXO!!: Music: How to Dress Well, Ocean Floor for Everything

When the opportunity came up to take a trip to Nashville at the end of last year, the answer was an undeniable yes! Finally, my time had come; trip to Nashville=trip to Hatch Show Print!:) Letterpress, beautifully aged woodblock type, Elvis AND Johnny Cash-OMG!!!! Lots of shutter clicking!:)
Menu art by Hatch Show Print, food by The Hermitage Hotel’s Capitol Grille (you have to see the men’s restroom here!!!). This awesome meal followed a fantastic evening watching the Grand Ole Opry at Ryman Auditorium where Little Jimmy Dickens made me swoon, Alison Krauss brought a tear to my eye, and Gillian Welch gave me goose bumps! Nashville rocks!!!:)

The first time I stood outside the gates of Graceland I was 7 years old. As we arrived, it was dark, raining, and hours had past since the last tour. We were all exhausted from the drive, but still enthusiastic about jumping out of the car, even if it was just to peer through the gates.
My mom is the one who of course inspired this first pilgrimage!:) I can remember being a kid and dancing with her to Elvis records in our very 70’s family room. She and I watched countless Elvis movies together (somehow my dad and brother always had other things to do!). And EVERY Christmas we listened to the two (one is not enough!) Elvis Christmas albums she had as we decorated the tree and again as we opened presents-a tradition I still honor!:)
I think most people who know me, know: I LOVE ELVIS! And I love it all-young Elvis, old Elvis, the good movies, the bad movies (maybe I love the bad movies just a little bit more!), even Elvis tribute artists. Seriously, how can you not love a man in a bedazzled jumpsuit?!
I was very excited to be in Memphis recently, and of course had to visit Graceland once again!:) Mom, this one is for you!:)

I can remember being a 19 year old photo student, standing in Times Square, looking at the largest billboards I had ever seen and thinking, “I WANT THAT! I want my photograph to be HERE, BIG!”. Fast forward to a few weeks ago, to me (a few years older!), standing in Times Square, looking at a huge billboard with my photograph, CRAZY BIG! Thank you, thank you, and thank you to everyone who made this moment possible! I am grateful to all of you for your help along the way, and of course with this project specifically-I am truly a happy girl!:)
In case you missed our previous blog post, you can see the billboard in better detail here: http://blog.lisapredko.com/2011/04/05/casio-tryx-part-1/
How about a whole building next time?;)

What a deal! Would you believe I found this little gem for $1?! With the fantastic graphics and the pretty pink plastic box, this is just the kind of thing to make a girl smile-almost as much as the Katy Perry OPI set Melissa just gave to me, thank you Melissa!!:) I love how inside step 2 says, “Removes callouses, nicotine stains” and I almost believe the line, “Makes glamorous hands possible for everyone!” I don’t think they took into account those of us who have photography as a profession, where even the best nail polish chips after day two!:)

Today is Christmas Eve, and it seems only appropriate to share another great find! Last month, we were at one of my favorite antique shops in Michigan and I know my eyes lit up when I discovered a jackpot of vintage wrapping paper! The hubby and I were on opposite sides of the shop, I called him on my cell hoping he would talk some sense into me and prevent me from buying the whole box. I of course couldn’t help myself and ended up buying the whole box anyway! Here are a few of my favorites:

To be honest, I have no idea how to play Bridge and I don’t even know if that’s the game these score cards were intended for (if anyone does know, please share!). What I do know, is that I LOVE THEM!:) When I found these little gems, I had no idea why I needed them, but I NEEDED them! How could someone have thought these gorgeous works of art were disposable?! Much thanks to whoever stuck these in the back of their drawer for 60 years; and if anyone is up for a game of Bridge, I’m happy to learn!;)
