Chicago Magazine, October 2017: Dr. Ruchi Gupta

October 19, 2017 in Photography

Because food sensitivity is something I personally struggle with, I was very excited when Chicago Magazine asked me to photograph food allergist Dr. Ruchi Gupta!  After watching Dr. Gupta’s super cute music video, I knew we were going to be able to create something fun and I couldn’t wait to meet her!  Special thanks to Tom & Jackie for bringing my vision of the giant peanut wall to life (LOVE YOU!!!!!) and an even bigger thanks to Chef Andy for cooking up that gorgeous red snapper!

IL Meetings + Events, Winter 2017: Alpana Singh

April 4, 2017 in Photography

The first time I photographed Alpana Singh was in 2004 as part of an annual report for WTTW, Channel 11; I was already a fan as she was a local celebrity as the host of Check Please! and a restaurant rockstar as the sommelier of Everest, receiving acknowledgements for becoming the youngest woman to achieve the rank of Master Sommelier (a test with a success rate of 1-3%)! <Applause!!!>  I was thrilled when Illinois Meetings and Events gave me another opportunity to photograph her 13 years later!:)  She has since added to her list of credits former Director of Wine and Spirits for the Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises (no wonder they always had such good wine!), a book, several awards, and most recently she has become a restaurateur opening her third restaurant, Terra and Vine, last fall in Evanston.  Throughout, she has also made time to give to numerous charities-does this awesome lady ever sleep??????  Thanks Alpana for a super fun shoot, hope to see you again in 13 years (or less!)!!!:)

Marketing News Magazine, February 2017: The Analytics Issue COVER featuring Kelsey Conner!!!!!

February 7, 2017 in Photography

I have to admit, it NEVER gets old seeing my work on another magazine cover, ESPECIALLY when the cover woman is someone I like as much as as this AWESOME lady (who just happens to be a marketing professional!)!!!!!! It was a little tough negotiating with Kelsey’s agent, but luckily I was able to offer a few extra perks like a special dinner cooked by my favorite chef/Kelsey’s former boss (thank you Andrea!) complete with pink champagne (to compliment the set of course!) as well as unlimited hugs and adoration (we love you Kelsey!!!!!!!!!!!!)!!!! Special thanks to Vince Cerasani for all the time spent creating our letters (not composited btw!!!) and Marketing News Magazine for another REALLY fun shoot!:) I’m happy to say we’ve been on a roll with fantastic cover ladies and there are more to come!!!!:)

Michele Pred: My Body My Business

September 6, 2016 in Photography

A few months ago the lovely Megan Colleen McGlynn was so sweet to connect the AMAZING artist, Michele Pred, and I at a Girlsday event (thank you Megan!!!)!  I immediately fell in love with Michele’s work as I FULLY support the same feminist and pro-choice agenda!  Her current series, “Promote the General Welfare”, features vintage purses adorned with feminist themed neon text.  I suggested Ms. Pred come by the studio the next time she was in town to take some fun pics; I also wanted to get to know Michele better and hear more about her work!:)  Make sure you check out more of her art on her website:  Rumor has it the Vote purse may now be in the hands of one of our presidential candidates… something tells me its not Trump!!!:) 🙂 🙂

Teresa Córdova: Great Cities Institute

August 3, 2016 in Photography

I recently had the pleasure of photographing UIC’s Great Cities Institute Director, Teresa Córdova, who is also Professor of Urban Planning and Policy in the College of Urban Planning and Public Affairs, and affiliate of the Departments of Sociology and Gender and Women’s Studies-WOW!!!  One of the best parts of my job is meeting so many admirable and accomplished ladies!:)

Great Cities Institute is indeed pretty great; in the quest for improving the quality of life in Chicago, it’s metropolitan areas, and cities throughout the world, they use research to create solutions for urban problems.  You can learn more by visiting the lecture series on their website and they have an event coming up on September 15th, the 2016 UIC Urban forum Jobs and the Labor Force of Tomorrow: Migration, Training, Education.

Before I met Teresa Córdova I was told, “She’s very smart, you will like her!”  Both couldn’t be more true!:)  We all had a great time at the shoot; Teresa chatted with us about the awesome work Great Cities is doing, what it was like to live in the southwest, how much we all love Chicago, and she even turned us onto some great music to work to at the studio!!!  Thanks so much Teresa!!!:)

Chicago Lawyer Magazine, May 2016: The Women Leading Big Law

June 29, 2016 in Photography

It was such a pleasure to meet and photograph these four awesome ladies for the cover of Chicago Lawyer Magazine, each of them an equity partner in their respective firms!  Citing the CL article, “…only 22.4% of all partners among responding firms are women.”-YIKES!!!  From left to right, I present to you four very inspirational women: Kerryann Haase Minton from Micheal Best & Friedrich, Lisa Scruggs from Duane Morris, Mary Wilson from Denton, and Linda Myers from Kirkland & Ellis. With my affinity for old movies, I particularly love Linda Myers’ anecdote about watching Adam’s Rib (1949) as a kid and being inspired by Katherine Hepburn’s strong feminist lawyer character!:) To read more about these awesome ladies, check out the article here!
